Jump over to Oberhaslach to visit the Cascade du Nideck. Situated 534 metres above sea level, to the south of the remains of a castle, the waterfall cascades down from a 25-metre-high wall of volcanic rock.

A rich historical heritage

In the 14th century, the town was fortified and provided with a surrounding wall, some of which still remains. It was behind these walls that many religious communities came to take refuge during the Lutheran Reformation.

The Église des Jésuites is a key edifice in the medieval town of Molsheim. The little sister of Strasbourg's cathedral is one of the largest churches in Alsace, and is remarkable for its clarity and size. Light, the symbol of the divine Word for the Judeo-Christians, floods into the late Gothic building. Inside, a veritable triumphal arch supported by four lions adorns the choir of the central nave, and large stained-glass windows depict, among others, Saint Odile, patron saint of Alsace, and Saint Léon IX, the Alsatian pope from 1049 to 1054.

The musmusque de la Chartreuse is a must-see in Molsheim. Immerse yourself in the rich and varied history of the town and discover unique exhibits from every era in this museum of architecture, art and history. From the earliest traces of human occupation in the region (Palaeolithic) to the painful memories of the Second World War, via the town's mediaeval history and religious orders, the Chartreuse Museum will delight history lovers! The premises are home to the Bugatti Foundation, which perpetuates the memory of the carmaker Ettore Bugatti through the presentation of a number of cars, unusual objects and documents.

A few kilometres from the town is the Fort de Mutzig, built by the German Empire and the largest fortified group in the world, but also the most modern in 1914.
